Zero-emission locomotive technologies: Pathways for U.S. rail decarbonization
Freight
Global freight activity is on track to quadruple by 2050. That makes the total freight transit system an important target for overhaul as heavy-duty vehicles account for disproportionate shares of fuel consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, and air pollution. Technological advances alone won’t do the job, so the ICCT’s Green Freight program takes a systems approach that includes advanced technologies and measures to shift freight to the most sustainable modes while optimizing supply chains.
