Chris Robshaw

Chris Robshaw is one of the true greats of the game. Primarily a playing flanker, his time as a former captain for the England national side, as well as a long and distinguished career at club level has seen him win numerous awards and honours and become a household name in the process.

Born in Redhill, Surrey in June 1986, Chris Robshaw’s rugby union career began with Warlingham RFC at the age of seven. He also played for and captained Millfield Prep School during his education before first signing for Harlequins in 2005.

Chris Robshaw went on to make his senior debut in the 2007-08 season and quickly asserted himself in the side with his exceptional work rate and leadership skills. The following season he was named the ‘Premiership Player of the Year’ and became a key part of Quins’ continued success as a club. This included a Heineken Cup win in 2010-11, the title in the English Premiership in 2011-12 and being named ‘Player of the Year’ for a record second time in this season.

He was named captain of Harlequins in the 2014-15 season and remained with the club until 2020, where following over 300 appearances and nearly 100 points, he left to play for San Diego Legion in Major League Rugby. He’s still with the American side and remains contracted with them for the next few seasons.

Chris Robshaw’s international career with the England national side has seen similar levels of success. He played at U18 and U21 level before making his senior debut in 2009 in a test match against Argentina. Despite being controversially overlooked for the 2011 Rugby World Cup, he was a regular on the team sheet for England and was named captain in January 2012. He remained as England captain for a number of years and during this time saw wins in the 2016 Six Nations, various tests and went on to gain 66 caps – in which he started every game.

Although now in the twilight of his career, he’s still a popular player. Outside of the game Chris Robshaw co-owns a coffee shop called Josie’s and is an ambassador for dyslexia.
