Sekope Kepu is one of the finest props to ever represent Australia.

Sekope Kepu Bio

Sekope Kepu is one of the finest props of his generation. Although he’s currently signed to play for Counties Manukau in the National Provincial Championship, he’s played for some of Europe, Australia and New Zealand’s top sides. In addition to this, between 2008 and 2019, he was capped more than 100 times by Australia. Sekope Kepu was inducted into the RugbyPass Hall of Fame in 2021.

Although he was born in Sydney, Sekope Kepu moved to Auckland while he was still young. At the age of seven, he then began to play rugby with Tamaki Rugby Football Club Under 7s. His talent for the sport shone straight away, and he represented New Zealand at U17, U19 and U21 levels. However, he ultimately chose to play international rugby for Australia.

In 2006, Sekope Kepu began to represent Counties Manukau in the National Provincial Championship. Although he was in the wider training camp for the Chiefs, a broken collarbone ruined his chances of making the Super Rugby squad and he had to wait until 2008, when he was signed by the NSW Waratahs.

Between 2008 and 2019, Sekope Kepu made 141 appearances for the Waratahs, helping them capture the 2014 Super Rugby title in the process. During this period, he also played 19 times for Bordeaux in 2015-16 and one game for the NSW Country Eagles in 2018.

When his contract with the Waratahs ended in 2019, Sekope Kepu left Australia to join London Irish. However, he left the club for personal reasons in 2021 and re-joined Counties Manukau.

Although his domestic career has been highly successful, Sekope Kepu is undoubtedly best known for his career with the Wallabies, which spanned from 2008 to 2019. During this time, he was capped 110 times.

Although his international career has finished and he’s without a Super Rugby contract, Sekope Kepu still has a lot to offer in the game. As a result, we can’t wait to see what else he can achieve for Counties Manukau.
