George Martin signs new ‘multiyear agreement’ at Leicester
Leicester second row George Martin has signed a new “multiyear agreement” with the club.
Martin, 22, a standout performer for England during the World Cup, returned to action for Leicester in Sunday’s Investec Champions Cup win against Stade Francais.
He told the Gallagher Premiership club’s official website: “I’m really happy to be staying with Tigers.
“Coming through the academy here, I get to come into work every day, play for a great club with my mates and I’m excited to work with (head coach) Dan (McKellar) and develop in the program that we have here.
“It was great to get back on the field last week and Exeter (on Saturday) is another big challenge for our group.
“Playing for this club in Leicester is special. I’m looking forward to getting back home to Mattioli Woods Welford Road.”

Nottingham-born Martin has made 69 appearances in all competitions for Leicester and stepped off the bench in the 2021-22 Premiership final.
He made his England debut in a 32-18 defeat to Ireland in 2021 as a replacement for Billy Vunipola and made his first start in a World Cup warm-up match against Wales in August, which England lost 20-9.

No chance of Borthwick selecting any young talent. He announced his selection policy from the outset with naming a poor OF as Captain, retaining an equally poor Youngs and Vunipola brothers when there were many better EQP in the Premiership. SB revival of Leicester was based on SA muscle and a terrific Welsh flanker he has generally ignored young English talent.
